@Senshougahara It's the kind of universe where only by using certain items and pills one can reach their true potential in a decent amount of time. Don't forget that quite a few times by now we have encountered lines about the people having lost cultivation techniques, pill recipes, knowlegde, demon spirits, etc. So, it's a badly degenerated cultivation world. It's also why Nie Li's buddies are so much better than the other students: Technically everybody could be like that, but they are missing the proper techniques and resources Nie Li granted them relying on his previous life knowledge. So, from another point of view, Ziyun (or others close to Nie Li) haven't become especially strong, they have merely developed as they should have. The rest of the city is being held back massively.
At this point, MC is just a guy who is trying to buy a girl with gifts.. first the necklace.. now a demon spirit..
Also.. MC is quite the simp.. at first he gave her information about inscriptions.. then that technique and all those things.. just to make her like him.. "to get the queen attention" or whatever it's called..

She brings nothing to the table, helps him with nothing even though he's helped her and somehow requires him to become a legendary fighter before considering him. Shes pure trash. The ginger girlmis way better, has helped mc, has fought her family for mc, has confessed to mc, yet she's swept aside for purple haired girl? The mc is dumb as rocks but really its the authors fault. Hes a simp at this point. He should sweep ginger haired Phoenix girl off her feet right in front of her and give her the ultimate "fuck you, i don't chase thots"
