Tales of Demons and Gods - Ch. 300.5

Can someone spoiler me if the nether realm disciple is female or what? why does he blush there?

@Legion_01

Common xianxia trope. If there's a guy who is too pretty, it's always a girl in disguise. Because China is very homophobic, so even their fantasy novels tend to treat any sort of actual gays as vile, depraved monsters who must be put to death, or at the very best, like lepers. And for some reason lesbians all but seem to not exist, and when they do they're either villainesses, or just 'confused' until someone rapes them straight and they're thankful for it.

I find it funny that girly guys are either girls or must-kill-pests. Considering almost no xianxia protagonist is in any way manly, being fair-skinned, long-haired, no body hair, thin, and wearing flowing clothing not unlike dresses. Usually with a lot of fancy gold jewelry and floral patterns. I have read way, way too many xianxia novels. ._.

tl;dr:
So yes, 'he' is a woman.

@LeonardoVAC :thanks
@Kayriel: yeah, agreed. It is really odd how no xianxia protagonist is lgbtq since they like their males so feminine and their women so masculine that more than once a disguised MC has made both sexes fall in love. Thanks for the info.

I might be getting the wrong impression, but is Nie Li's spirit root supposed to be higher than what it was announced?
Kinda seemed like he expected lower/exact/fixed score so he got startled once it started going higher and pulled his hand away too early before the orb was finished measuring?

@donutdrawer what ended up happening is his spirit root thanks to the vine and twin spirit beasts within him, his spirit root is basically a trunk at this point, which the ball couldn't measure.
