Nie Li was 7 grade earth root in his previous life.
I have not found any explanation about black grade in the wiki.

@tarekbn Yes and no. I'm not going to spoil anything about the story whatsoever, but I'll just place a bit of technical information in spoiler tags. So, if you click on it, you won't learn any spoilers whatsoever, but just the reason why I included the "and no" in my answer.

The story will continue well worth reading for a good long while past this point the manhua now, but at a certain point, the author gave up on it. I've heard it's because he launched another novel and is concentrating on it. So, if he spent 100% effort on this novel before that point, he only spent 10% after it. The drop in quality is crazy and the plot becomes kind of meaningless. However, up until that point it's a genuinely good read. I don't regret reading what was translated of it back then. I don't believe the novel is yet finished, and nobody knows if it's ever going to be since it's not a priority for the author.
