Honestly, it's a bit annoying how nie li conveniently always finds what he needs the moment he needs it. Like, the Chocobo is conveniently stronger than the kirin and there was someone as rich as ill that conveniently could provide him with spirit stones. When an MC grows behind a certain level, without challenges (not fightings, I mean hardships) the story loses its luster imo.

Don't worry, Nie Li doesn't need Jindan and won't for quite a while. An "I'm not sure the author remembers it" long while.

Yeah, that why I lost interest in the novel.
You forgot the regulary :
Nie Li enter a new territory and this peoples desespartly need a master of alchimist/rune/medecine/etc... , as if by chance, in the first timeline who we (reader) didn't have a clue about what Nie Li know and not. Nie Li have conveniently travel to a place where he learn what this peoples needs. Of course Nie li see himself like a aprentice because the real expert over space him but for the rest of the world, Nie Li is an expert.
Don't forget that we never saw this expert at all either, they lives in hermit somewhere outside of the plot.

Well I still like this serie but yeah, there is many Deus Ex Machina

@Legion_01 it was already hinted that jindan is on the level of those temporal demon beasts while the kirin is just a normal but rare demon beast, if you were talking in game terms then jindan is a legendary and the kirin is a rare.

I don't think it's much of a secret of Nie Li in front of his friend, especially if he already told them before (which I don't remember now). After all it's just a cultivation method and he is safe to tell his friend about it. The only thing he may have not mentioned to anyone is the plant inside him.
