Wholesome chap, i love it
Are everyone in this series dumb as fuck? It would literally take ANYONE two seconds to find out that the Empress is the former General of the Empire and the Emperor was the Vice General, putting one and one together to realize they have a special bond from the army days.
Author still hasn't explained WHY Kan Shougyoko decided to accept Banrins proposal to enter the harem. She threw her drink at him, heard him out and then poof, Empress. "Just another military officer", what the hell? You call the Empires most successful general "JUST ANOTHER MILITARY OFFICER"? She clearly doesn't care about ranks and stuff, as long as she can protect people. Going to the harem to become Empress to become the leader of the Royal Guard is a fluff position that barely does anything. Her character is brilliant and fun to read, but all this other crap is just getting in the way.

Solo project or not, this was definitely an excellently done chapter. Thank you.
As for the story, I'm not sure what to think about it. It feels like there's too much information missing, but I guess that's just how manga adaptations are. These types of stories tend to be full of exposition and adapting that in manga format is probably very hard without making speech bubbles too hard on eyes. Let's wait and see how things will go.

Okay, so 10 years ago MC was a Royal Bodyguard. That ended when the Princess she was guarding became Empress. That's interesting, and part of me wonders if her post as a General was basically an unofficial "Promotion Exile". I wonder if Emperor dude realized that his new wife had come down with Sudden-Onset-Lesbian and so got rid of the source.
As for keeping their past hidden; Guys, this is an age before Photo IDs or anything like that, set in a world inspired by Imperial China which was, how do you say, Focken' LARGE. The first chapter explicitly states that no-one in the Army MC lead had any idea that The Dude was even a part of the Royal Dynasty until the day he left. Considering their army was being sent out for basic Rebel Control against a force only 3000 strong, MC wasn't some really-famous general. Hell part of Dude's way of bribing her was pointing out that she would probably never get the opportunity to command large armies in major battles except via this method, indicating again she isn't considered anyone special in the military hierarchy.
Even if you did find someone who knew her like the fanboy from chapter 1 and brought them here they might not recognize her because she's the Fuckin' Empress now. She'll be caked under so many layers of Make-Up she might as well be wearing a literal porcelain mask.

@JCVocke the princess did not become empress. She became the wife of a titular prince, making her, yet another princess. But this time a princess consort instead of an imperial princess. And thus when her husband died, she became princess dowager or Outaihi. As for exile, tbh... it might be mentioned in the novel. It's just been so long I don't really remember much of it... There is some extra backstory behind the manga tho, if I ever get the chance I may or may not give my hand at that one. Also. Porcelin mask lmaooo. Idk why, that cracked me up kek.
