Probably from the english expression. It's a well-known phrase in business.
If you want to go with the memes, though, Donald Trump, Vince McMahon and Mr. Spacely also use the phrase.

@kenx It's probably more because the raws use "クビになる" in the other dialogues, which can mean "fired" or "eliminated", and the author somehow chose the former meaning for the English phrase. But that English expression or the meme is a nice interpretation too.
