Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari - Vol. 1 Ch. 1 - A Royal Summons

i read mixed reviews of the wn, so i thought i'd start with the manga. dat suspicious woman is very suspicious.

These heroes played a shit tier MMO then. Anyone who says tanks are complete shit never have seen what a dungeon raid REALLY should be like.
What are they playing? SAO?

The scene where they talk and discover that they each come from a different alternate reality/timeline Japan is missing. It's only looseley implied from their talk of book/oldschoolrpg/mmorpg/vrmmorpg.

There's quite a lot of these transported to another world manga, I'm only noticing this now surprisingly.

"Shields can't be used as a weapon"

Sir, Captain America would like a word with you. And so would the Spartans.

Rereading this after having read the whole novel, I can’t see the king as much of a bad guy anymore and more of a sad brainwashed fool.

Yeah, that is the ONE tidbit that kinda annoyed me... even if it is generally used as armor bonus in games... you don't think having like 6-10 pounds of material strapped to your arm COULDN'T be used as a weapon in a real-life situation?
Though, that does make me wonder... if you came in with the pre-conceived notion that a shield is a weapon, would you have come with a proper attack stat? While nowhere near the numbers the others had, but one that could actually kill stuff in a relatively quick amount of time?

This is going to be good... but I reread this after so much time has passed and the anime get aired... I feel lonely but still, it's a good read after reading the Light novel...
And he will know now that what he thinks about the shield is coming back to bite him and the world is not all sunflowers...

Even if you do have a shield with big defense stats and your defense is thanks to it OP, even in knight times those who used sword and shield used shield to fight around and bash and mash and generally use it as both defense AND offense weapon.. swords get dull way too fast in combat compared to, lets say, axes.
Which is also one of the reasons why most vikings used axes by the way.
That said, nobody says you have to punch your enemy to death, i do think the hand where you have your OP shield will work much better, but then again, manga logic applies, so everybody takes it as given shield is only for defense.

Now,i'm no full-on "MMORPG" player.
But i'm pretty sure having someone who could take more hits than "the entire team combined",or just tank all the hits,is a pretty important role in a party.
(But as i've said,I don't play MMORPGS all the time,I just play and go.)

What nonsense is this? Do these people not ever play tanky characters or not realize how valuable having a tank on your team is? Good grief.

As a mmo vet I’d like to say those other people are frauds do you people not understand the concept of a fucking tank? anyway feels weird not seeing pig faces on the women
