oh course, that's ignoring the fact that he's already beaten spear in a match, he can't attack which disqualifies him for what they consider the biggest criteria for ability, or the fact that attacking them would make them feel like defying you would be "righteous". So, yeah, there isn't a quick fix like kicking their asses. If anything, that would make them want to fight you more.

A bigger point is what most people here seem to be missing, that they DO get it. This isn't like the early chapters of the WN version, they aren't actually stupid. It's just that this is what happens when they realize that they aren't measuring up, they go into sunk cost and double down. They had two choices, they could have accepted their incompetence and that their fundamental views of themselves and the world is wrong or they could say that the failure was due to a lack of some resource (such as time, money, stats etc.). They chose the one that pretty much everyone chooses and went with the one that doesn't mean everything they did up to this point was flailing about.

So, yeah, this isn't the behavior of people who "just don't get it". This is the behavior of people who "get it" and desperately wished they didn't.
 
You guys haven't learned anything from this manga yet, huh? For how many chapters have we seen the princess and the king being assholes to him? How much sweeter was it to see them get their just desserts? Please. Be patient, we all know what karma is coming for them, and how pleasurable it'll be for us to read it. :p
 
Its happening! Buts its a bit late... I don't think they will be able to appreciate it unless we reset their levels.
 
For people who read the WN:
Does anything happen between Naofumi and Raphtalia or is it the same as the previous chapters?
 
After catching up to the latest chapters, I'm kinda disappointed in the plot's direction; it's become predictable to a point, and the emotions have started to fall near-flat. That exhilarating feeling of having been powerless that this story touted at the beginning has worn off. I suppose it's just strange, that for a story where acceptance was a meaningful and scarce thing to find in the beginning, our hero and company have found acceptance much easier from others than before. I still enjoy the story thoroughly, and so I'll continue to see where it goes from here.
 
@Escheron @Quelix Yes he was, he was also the only hero who heard about this and honestly admited that he never thought this would happen and that he would work to avoid doing it again. The sword hero is a really honest kid, he doesn't do things on purpose unlike the others. If you point out his mistakes he will honestly try to avoid commiting those mistakes again. In the WN he only ever caused problems afterwards when the Bitch princess completely broke his sanity and made him fall in despair, he unlocked the sword of greed(I believe, i don't remember if it was this sin weapon he got) and was controled by this sword(which almost happened to the mc and his shield of wrath) becoming a bandit boss in the process.

By the way the only reason why I didn't put this in spoiler tag is because the LN has diverged a lot from the WN at this point. This probably never happened in the LN.

I swear the author tries to make the most annoying characters trope a character can have. It's just damn annoying, especially since logically, they know they're fucking useless in the last two waves. Anyone with a damn brain knows that they need to get stronger, literally every MC in isekai know that. The author is just making us suffer through watching these dumbfucks being a hero.
 
I like how we can all agree that the author is clearly bad at handling the other heroes, sure they might be assholes... But why their whole party has to be such pieces of shit too? why can't even one single person be good among them? They're all shit from the start? that's impossible.
