@unime considering the way the church and the system of gods and blessings is something that doesn't feature in Abyss's backstory at all, and as she knows that she's basically a war homunculus based on a specific person either she was born with important info already in her head or the facility she woke up in had recoverable data around, my theory is that it's a result of whatever conflict made people think that making magic clone soldiers like Abyss was worth the cost both morally and financially.

@icarushector
Huh so you're saying the church knew about abyss and they dumped the kids there as a means to keep her in check? Aka get rid of her essentially?

This Manga is interesting for me, it has adventure + slice of life combined in a nice way

@unime @icarushector i believe the island is harsh on ordinary kids, so they use it to get rid of kids with blessing that they don't want, in this case MC blessing was 1 that they wanted to get rid of so they dump him there to die. If u read the few first chapter, Abyss explained that the church keep sending kids there but they keep dying, either through the monsters, disease or misfortunes(running away from abyss just to die in the end or so cause she looked like an demon, which the church made them seem evil)

@unime well, no. I have no solid theory about why this island in particular is used. Rather I think the pantheon of accepted vs forbidden gods is tied to the conflict Abyss was made for. The system at its core feels like an excellent way to create highly effective workforce specialists. The theory is that this is a post apocalypse type setting, and that the actual source of the blessings is tied to the same people that made Abyss, and the actual history is obscured either by time and disaster or intentionally.

Maybe a particular subset of this blessings system was needed by the people who worked on the island way back when and that's why they were blacklisted/set aside.
