Tensei Ouji wa Daraketai - Vol. 1 Ch. 4

Not sure why no one would have made something like pudding if milk, eggs, and especially sugar are available. The fish thing was weird too, "salted over-night" is such a simple thing that people would have done it. xD

>Wants to live a carefree life without being pulled around for anything
>Completely revamps the way chefs prepare food, gets an incredibly powerful beast as a pet, and also becomes a judo master

Way to live subtly.

I mean, salting is the main method of preserving food. The mere notion of someone not at least trying it is kinda ridiculous. It might make more sense that it taste super salty because people didn’t measure out the salt and it isn’t suitable for nobility to eat and is often seen as commoner food.

@Kisato: Depends; salting things for long-term storage is a different process than just rubbing salt into them and leaving them to soak in. (Think ham vs. pork roast.) It's still ridiculous that nobody ever tried that, though — by the time period that this setting is mimicking, salt wasn't all that rare; it was herbs and spices that were rare in the medieval period, and since there wasn't any contact with the Americas it was all Chinese and Southeast Asian spices. (No peppers, except the peppercorn kind, for example.)

Its just the japanese glorifying the food they eat again. Most of it is ridiculous, but its in all the isekai stories pretty much.
Kinda like the crop rotation thing.
Knowing that the ground needed "rest" is something like 8000 year old knowledge, crop rotation is also several centuries old at the very least, its nothing modern like isekai acts like it is.

Defensive martial arts= the strongest one if the difference in strength isn't that great...

@PerfectDeath @Kisato fridges weren't a thing until recently in this world, and I think they mostly made summoning contracts for combat purposes. MC got both of these together for making refrigeration, so now they don't only have two options, salting fish for storage, or seasoning food for immediate cooking, now they can marinade without worrying about spoilage.

I feel bad for the turtles and bees. Turtles gotta live their lives in a freezer and bees in a smoker. At least MC visits them lol

U know..... i turned my brain off on food which glorified the mc's geniusness or whatnot, turned off my brains for the contradicting action of mc for not wanting to stand out but actively doing so (he could just outright brwal with the kid, lose, and everybody wouldn't look mc as superman or god or w/e), turned off my brains for the setting of everyone else but mc too stupid to try something new cuz.... too many isekais story telling em and i try to ignore it the best i can........ but i didn't come all the way here to read or watch or see a summo fight in a fantasy world of magic!
