@DaoLaw well technically demon lord or 魔王 can also be interpreted as something like "ruler of magic" or magic creatures etc, it doesnt HAVE to be a bad thing, it just almost always is due to lots of old games and manga and stuff having established it as bad.

@banjomarx @DaoLaw Demons are either a race and/or a collection of races, a Demon King/Lord is a title given to their ruler, who they are as an individual is whatever. My preferred type of Demon Lord is a gentleman bastard like Dantalian from Dungeon Defense or Aur from How to Become a Demon King.

@gaigous srry for the late reply, but ya, i mean thats the typical definition of demon lord, but you are thinking in english instead of japanese, in japanese usually the demon lord is not really the lord of demons (which would be akuma悪魔) though he may be, but rather the lord of magical people or beasts (魔人 or 魔物) but basically demon lord sounds a lot better, though they often call the magical beasts monsters or something of the sort when translated. My point is that typically the phrase demon lord is not technically accurate in terms of language, and trying to logically approach this in english is not effective.
