But go should be similarly easy to manufacture and the rules aren't that much harder to learn. At this point, Reversi just feels like a super played out trope.

@HaikenEdge really? this is the first manga I've seen use this game. There is the game that is even older than chess where there is attacker and defender with the king surrounded by pieces which is defenders and attackers are on the outside of the board. To win as an attack you must surround the king and as defender the king has to get to the edge of the board or something like that. That one is more fun that chess imo though i haven't played in years to the point i don't even remember the name lol

No, making GO is more tedious, you have to make 19 x 19 and and 361 pieces in total, both black and white, while reversi have 64 pieces.
