I feel like this chapter alone made this whole manga a lot better. It was decent before but now im excited to see what happens to her next.

He agreed with that sentiment if my memory is correct. To the point that one of the knights had to knock him out/put him to sleep.
Also, the maid was right there. She could have lifted the girl over to the father, but noooo no doing that. Yeah yeah, I know the risks, but again, she could have wrapped herself around the girl and jumped. She could have tried to turn it around before it decided to panic or turned it around a bit after.
Plenty of choices.
I find it a shame she died. It was somewhat an act that makes up for a fuckup she already did. Not fully, but atl she tried with her limited options by that point.
Yes, I know she was doing it for her family, but again, she could have used the father to make up for that issue. She kidnapped an infant for gods sake. There is no excuse for such an action. It was completely clear to anyone she wouldn't be allowed to live.
She should have been trialed and irons put on her. But it was kind of clear from the start she wasn't exactly very bright.

Ngl, really ex-machina level of dumb them not going out 100m or so out of the barrier or so to at least attempt to chase the lizard down. Even if the hollows are some spoopy shit, they MUST have at least some means of protection no matter how temporary to walk out and chase it down, as if random hunters can survive outside the barrier, Elite guards FOR SURE should have the tools at their disposal to do expeditions outside and such.

I find it amusing how everyone is criticizing the 15-year old maid for making a foolish and rash decision. She's 15. In a medieval-style era no less. Please tell me how much comprehension would they have in such a situation?
Geez guys, at least try to realize that she herself realized her mistake and did try to do her best to protect her from being killed.

Went to check the RAW
The butler who ran out was the one who hired the girl. So there was suspicion he was involved.
Then inside the MC's room they found a letter hidden under her bed, FROM THE BUTLER.
The short version? Whoever told the girl her brother was sick was lying, the brother is healthy.
He also know there's a good chance the kind of comments like so many we see here would come up and if her family, being commoners that they are, get punished for it, whenever the MC return and find out she would be very sad.
So in order to prevent that, he is going to do what he can do, and end with apology for doing things on his own.
The brother and dad also decide to do the same, to make sure that whenever the MC return, she won't be greeted with more tragic news.
