I have to agree with the others. master here doesnt really fit altho i would see why they decided to go with that in the official translation however it sounds kinda wrong . I guess advanced player sounds better but neither that is good. needs a word like superior or smth that can stand on its own to be 1word description

Advanced player for sure! Master totally sounds like a different connotation. Master sounds more like he's the guild master, or someone who's in charge of something, or some old man who's a high level martial artist and is above everyone else.

Also, why would they call him a master just because he was in the tower for a long time?

I dunno about "advanced player", in what did he advance? Getting to the end of tutorial 1k+ times? Even though he has abnormal stats, no one knows the exact amount, they couldn't even see him as someone who is advanced before the tests.
As for "master", it will have some logic, because he was helping a lot of other players to complete the tutorial, and well... he mastered that stage to the fullest.

As much as I think I would prefer master normally, the context makes advanced player make more sense. Everyone is a normal player while he is advanced.

Lol, both Advanced Player and Master sound weird to me XD
But, I'd still probably prefer Advanced Player. I'm used to it now, it's in the name, and it's more descriptive of his position in the world.
I think my main problem lies with the word advanced... I feel like there is a better adjective, but I can't think of any and I don't know what the original Korean word is, so it's hard to think of other fitting adjectives.

With a little Googling, I have worked out that the term is 고인물, which translates to "pooled water." This Korean gamer slang for someone who has spent an enormous amount of time perfecting their skills in a given game or discipline. I think "master" is too vague a term, because it comes with all kinds of connotations. It implies that he is in a position of authority over the speaker, which is completely not true. On the other hand, "advanced player" just...doesn't really mean anything? Neither is a great option.

Personally, I think a better term would be "pro gamer" or "pro player." This in English-speaking gaming culture has taken on a very similar meaning as 고인물, and English-speakers will often call someone a "pro" or "pro gamer" not to literally mean they do it for a living, but as a reference to a high level of skill attained by grinding a game for thousands of hours. It's also a term that is used jokingly outside of gaming in other fields, like calling a skilled maneuver in a sport a "pro gamer move."

I think "advanced player" is fine. I don't know what context of "master" is being used, but he wasn't really known for being a teacher back in the tutorial tower, he wasn't really known as any kind of leader back in the tutorial tower, he wasn't really known for exerting authority over others in the tutorial tower, he didn't really have control over the tutorial tower, etc.

He got his nickname all the way back in the tutorial tower and was famous for it before he even left, but none of the definitions of "master" would really fit what he was famous for back in the tutorial tower. I mean, yes, he trained small groups on a whim, but they were just that. Small groups. He was most famous for being stuck for 12 years and having absurd strength. I feel that "advanced player" would fit better.

Can in indo be translated as advanced as wall as master? If so then advanced makes more sense. Otherwise use master. I just remembered from some wed novels that I've read the translators have mentioned how a word in another language can mean multiple things in english.

@Razznik nope, just like in english, advanced and master have different meaning.
@pokperson1000 the official indo title is 'Master of Tutorial Tower' which means that he's the strongest/most knowledgeable person in the tutorial tower.

Also note that in indonesian 'master' not only means teacher but also a person that has complete mastery of something.
