The Ancient Magus' Bride - Vol. 12 Ch. 56 - Better bend than break I

@ichigoteguz

he didn't tell this to alice directly, alice was just giving an example. she likes renfred romantically and is putting effort into getting him to see her as romantic interest, but alice overheard renfred telling elias that he only sees her as a daughter: so she understood it to mean she shouldn't bother trying to putting in that kind of effort.

Is the odd smell Chise detected from the spy from a curse or magical item that forces the spy to obey given orders?

Guessing. And then someone found that slay vega blood is quite good catalyst for contract.

@cgr There has not been a single time that Alice said anything about romantic feelings towards Renfred. She is displeased simply because she wanted to be of use and Renfred sees her as a daughter, not as a partner he can relly on to protect and help him.

it's nice to see chise circle friends can act rationally tho has their own conflict but not erupting.

also flashback time.

aww... the plot progression is going good. hope to see more!

Also.. Thanks you for the hard work, Maigo!!!!!

@Abetillo
she didn't say it, but her reaction in chapter 54 clearly implies it.

renfred is waiting for her to grow so your interpretation doesn't make sense, she could grow up and then become a partner for renfred

I don’t know who’s right, cgr or Abetillo. 🤨
I mean maybe we’ll get more info next chapter?

@cgr and I cannot see how ''renfred is waiting for her to grow'' has to do anything with Alice's objectives much less invalidate my reasoning, as she did not know that till now. Renfred is just having tipical paternally feelings of wanting their offspring to do well in life and be happy, but that is another topic.

More than trying to convince you which i do not care about is that i cannot figure out the reasoning behind your words, no matter if i agree or not.

@Kalamel Do her classmates know Chise is a Slay Vega? I can't remember if that was discussed when she was introduced. I ask because the last thing we need are Chise's classmates chasing her around as a spell ingredient.

alice is a free spirit, she 'will always end up walking the path' that she decides (synonym: chooses)
https://mangadex.org/chapter/38345/24
https://mangadex.org/chapter/38345/25

renfred is raising her so she can 'make her own choices': https://mangadex.org/chapter/546300/15

after re-reading, I realized 'romantic' might not be the most accurate word, but Alice's goal is clearly not (quoting you)
simply because she wanted to be of use
because she can still choose to help when she grows up, since renfred hasn't rejected her choice[/b] , so she shouldn't have felt so dejected.

Last chapter: is ok is not big deal we got your life threatening secret out, also you are overreacting calm down and apologize you drama queen.

This chapter: lets make a pact that will bur our throats if someone talks about this...

the school arc has made me feel like this is a one shot read series more than ever. I can't remember so much stuff reading this one chapter a month but it's still really good.

in the precess of making the contract, one presses their finger on the paper
does chise's classmates not notice that her hand is completely black?
and what was that snake that popped out??
