The Archmage's Daughter - Ch. 1

Ummm.... so what exactly is different from the previous one? Did I miss something?

@arpanar it is in the last page of the ch,
we had originally translated Rykell's title in this chapter as Young Lord, when it should've been 'brother-in-law' (the titles are the same in korean and we didn't realize this until we had more context by reading the later chapters). this implies that all this time, Maybelle wasn't living with some randoms, but in fact her relatives. the people she thought were her parents was actually her aunt and uncle.

So whats is the circumstance(s) that would make one leave their child to these piece of garbages? It seems like rumors are circling around as well, so saying the father is busy or what not is as far fetched as it comes.

Seeing the cover art shows us that the father seems to care, so what kind of bloody stupid asd thing is stopping him from helping her?

another smol bean to protect, alongside Leslie from "the monster duchess and contract princess".

I am going to say... among all the bad parents I read about... this is really....mild.
Kinda grateful that they didn't go overboard with the mistreatment, a sad thing to realize considering they treat her bad enough to let the child think she is useless.

I too would run away if there was a mother and a brother being total tyrants. Only the father of the house really had a soft-heart.

If the real father is patient and kind, she will stay with him.

Are they not even afraid that her father would know of her treatment under their hands?

I hate the fake family... Which webtoon manhwa etc did the credit photo (blonde girl green eyes, black haired guy red eyes) come from?

If no one says it, i have to say: the plot is shit as hell. Its literally a super dramatized version of Harry Potter. You see, it's not like there is a problem with the plot per si, but, again, the cliché of her adoptive family being such douchebags fails its intetion of causing me indignation when its made in such a caricatural manner.

so if the dad cares nothing about the daughter, they treating her like that matter little in a way that they aren't dumb to the point of causing their own demise (like some novels have, people can't be that dumb to ignore their own well being, at least they know how to be selfish, even if being selfish includes feeding someone you don't like).
but he needs to not care at all, to the point even if she is crippled or he needs to attend to her funeral when 'poor thing fell down the stair'.
it is an okay background tho, because the one treating her bad isn't her own family. greed people like that isn't uncommon. sometimes authors really makes it so tragic, that everything becomes such a mess that i don't really feel anything, because it too out of nowhere and a bit too unlogical even to a simplified fantasy.
but if the guy expects them to at least feed her child well, they are pretty courageous to end up mistreating his daughter like that. that is me expecting being a archmage here isn't like very common and actuallly a rare achievement.

Why do so many manhwas feature the protagonist being abused? Do the ones I check out just all happen to have that theme lol?

This makes no sense at all.

You expect me to accept the so-called heartwarming moments when the Father did nothing all this time? The f*ck? How does it justify leaving his daughter like that..

I feel nothing for anyone in this, it just looks like something so forced to set a mood

that doesn't make sense.... they take care of her for someone else and receive money for it that can have three causes either money force or favor
money is apparently not important enough as they are basicly throwing her out and say screw money
force cant be it also because they don't care about her well-being
and favour seems also unlikely because they cant claim a favour without her being alive and well....

either they are much more powerful than it seems or they are in for a very rude awakening
