The Bloody Merchant Empress and the Cold Husband's Forceful Doting - Ch. 46 - Confrontation in court

imma hold off on the celebration cause i dont know how badly this will disappoint me but oooh i hope not...

Well, that was refreshing!
And makes me wonder whether Huo Mingcheng's father knew of this or not.

@Vasqueztion But she didn't even do anything this time, though. She's simply lucky that bitch can't keep her mouth shut for five seconds. :p

@Solaz I'll admit you do have a point. In many epidemic situations in the past one of the most (unfortunately) efficient ways to stave off an epidemic was to quarantine the sick and let them die. However, such a thing was usually only done in the most dire of circumstances and the sick weren't deliberately poisoned and then torched(although that might be better then starving to death or slowly dying to the illness in question). The most damning part of Mingcheng's act is that he kept it secret and didn't ask for permission in the first place to make such a drastic and (obviously) unnecessary decision. The disease, while bad, was nowhere near bad enough to warrant such an action, and many of those he killed likely weren't even sick yet and were simply family of those who were afflicted. If he genuinely thought such an act was necessary in the grand scheme of things(sacrifice the few to save the many kind of situation) then he should have first brought it up with the emperor either through letter or in person and had the council debate whether or not it was yet necessary to do such a thing. In the mean time, while he waited for word from the emperor, he could have just kept the people quarantined and alive.

Ultimately, while his actions could have been necessary in more dire circumstances, in this situation it just paints him as a murderer who doesn't care about the welfare of the common people. He done fucked up big time.

Damn talk about convenient plot devices, Her main (rival?) literally just talked herself into a dead end by not keeping her mouth shut, it's the first time I've seen the villain run right into the noose without any pocking and prodding from the mc.

@Svelandria well you could still excuse it if he had good intentions, but he did it just because it was a bother for him to deal with this people. It was shown when the MC saw him do these things.

@sedition it's not very hard to set up honestly I've done it enough times (obviously on a smaller scale) in my actual life. Just provide an opportunity for a mistake and throw some bait and like 60% of the time people will mindlessly walk into the trap.
