It comes a point where somebody will actually want her to hold herself accountable for murdering a person...although Kana might not be that person.

If you want to meta this whole thing, the smartest move she could've probably done would be to come clean sooner, once emotions were finally settling in. She has enough history of proof to which she can report her living conditions to the authorities.
As it stands, only bad stuff can come out of it now.
