I dislike the servant dude. He thinks absolutely nothing of his immediate master, no, in fact he openly looks down on her. Naturally this is a comedy series, so it goes without saying Mary won't get rid of him, which makes it even more bloody annoying.

This seems like a normal best friends interaction to me. If anything, it proves how close they are to each other. I find their interactions hilarious and the fact that Mary still keeps him around, allows him to join the academy, and eats with him in the cafeteria proves that at the end of the day, she enjoys his company.

@TomTangent Yeah, indeed if he had been introduced as her friend, his behavior would be nothing strange. In fact anyone would behave like that, considering Mary isn't the sharpest pencil in the pencil case. However, he's supposed to be her servant, and she's a noble to boot. If they are close and trust each other, there ought to be some leeway, but no matter how you look at it, he simply doesn't care at all. It's like he knows he won't be fired no matter what, let alone face even more grave consequences, so he doesn't care to hide his feelings at all.
