the hygiene portion was a bit abrupt with no consequence before action - seeing a bad example and then trying to fix it. Mary Sueish vibes, but that's mainly because the dude is the father of a minor antagonist. no prejudiced? I don't see him scheming behind the MC's back
also... trivial my ***. fainting women syndrome might have been a common thing back then but it's "show & tell" not just one. some "just for plot" situations can easily be justified but don't pull wool over the fact that it's a trope to "get sick and have stoic lover take care of partner"
I'm concerned over her but I felt like this is being rushed and could've been expressed better
