Even with the old Chloe being too weak to assert herself, all she would have needed to do was speak up just once to her husband, and that woman would have been out on the street. Even with him not particularly caring about his wife, he'd have to realize that a servant who is insubordinate and can't be trusted to behave correctly towards the lady of the house is a servant who can't be trusted in general.

I get the sense the author and artist don’t really know what time period they’re shooting for. We’ve got steel(?) breastplates, skirts with bustles, and... ice cubes served to low level retainers with fresh citrus juice with weird anachronistic IKEA glassware. Glassware definitely existed, including tumblers, but those designs don’t match the aesthetic at all.

@Keiko98 well every shojo/josei series are like this no? the mc always be like in a pinch and there will be some hot guys who always saving her.
while on shounen/seinen series the mc always overpower beyond imagination and he is the sole person to have that power, even goblin slayer that doesn't have "fantasy" like power have a peculiar "strength" on it's own... that's he is not a pawn that of any gods played.

every fiction series are like this dude . . it's just how the author delivered the "common sense" you're talking about is it still on the line of "normal" or beyond "absurd"
what i like on shoujo series is "slow prison life", there's so much comedy there, that even the absurdness is an entertainment to the reader.
well to me this series is beyond a bit of normal that's look annoying because she's looks pathetic. but this still on early chapter, just see for more few chap or a latter arc maybe there will be some improvement
