The Earl's Daughter Was Suddenly Employed as the Crown Prince's Fiancée - Vol. 1 Ch. 2

This is such a cute series, I love it!! Everyone is so precious...and dorky haha.

@WhimsiCat I thought the same!! Specially when the Prince didn't care when Lynette made noise while eating, lol. Or their meeting/dinner at the end. Those scenes made me think about Sila/Cesar's relationship.

Well... and there's also the same "fake engagement" plot (although different reasons), so...

ahhhh... i really like her~ and the prince lmao i'm sure he's gonna end up falling for her ehehehe. the knights blushing at her in her new clothes lol they were cute too

'Let me get you some more meat' *cue porno music time* Dangit, why am I such a pervert?

This typesetting gives me the shivers. Its so bad that I cringe at every bubble that I read. Man, pls go get a typesetter.

I sincerely appreciate that they didn't try to sugar-coat the situation and say, "Oh, no, they're being perfectly good people as they force her into this," because I was getting ready to retch a little at that sort of gaslighting.

But no, instead—"We're the f---ing royal palace and we may be smiling now but you're going to do as we say, or, well, chop-chop! Now, get ready." So genuinely and forthrightly medieval! It's so refreshing (at least, in the context of similar works often pretending, ham-handedly, that the other party isn't in the wrong in these situations).

Albeit, not the smoothest start to a romance.

...On a completely unrelated note, however, the idea that table manners are required in order to have dinner conversation, or that a boisterous hand-to-mouth family as hers has otherwise been shown to be would not talk over the dinner table, is frankly quite ludicrous. If anything, the fancier the dinner, the less talking there is...

@Pokari Agreed. I was like "What, the lower classes don't socialize while they eat? Since when?" Guess the pubs must be out of business in this kingdom.

Something like that...

I'm impressed that there aren't any doki doki rose petal moments so far. And I thought it was pretty cute that she'd think she had a choice in this at all, but I forgot that blackmailing was probably not common in these stories.

Lmao rafflessia flowers 😂

That blackmail tho. Haha poor Lynette

@Pokari The kind of dinner probably doesn't matter, like they expect all ladies to act according to manners during all kinds of meals. Not sure about medieval noble etiquette, and I'm not Japanese, but at least in my culture (not sure if it applies to everyone here, but...) it really is a bit rude to be that "noisy" while eating, even if it's just a simple meal. Cutlery being heard clinking on the plate is distracting. Earlier, she was also taking big bites, which would look rude to some. 😅 Though, I get that they shouldn't have expected much since she came from a poor family.

Gyaa! Tight lacing was never the norm and such dresses normally had tons of padding! One day, damn it, one day I want to read a shoujo with something aproching historical dress... My search continues

if it was me i wouldve demanded a more serious and sincere apology from the knights(?) rather than them apologizing because they're afraid of the prince

They would not hurt her tho, so the blackmail was a sham that she fell into. She is way too valuable for them to lay a finger on her.

I hate stories where they have to become "proper ladies" as if there's a definition for that. Not only that but she was blackmailed! Are you telling me they couldn't find a feminine guy??
