I wonder how the author pans the story out from here, perhaps going further into how the MC and the Hero got into this mess in the first place, maybe former companions who sold them out, other countries involved in their capture, some overarching church figure that oversaw the whole scheme.

Hope the author has a plan for this, and this doesn't turn into one-shot level of writing after a few extra chapters like some other stories. But the premise so far is enjoyable enough.

I bet that Dwight will eventually revive the hero, but she’ll be horrified by what he’s done, it will either be a wake-up call, or a proof of exactly how far he’s fallen at that point

Damn quality revenge story... At 3 chapters. Its a story about the mad lich the hero normally fights. IE. A villain story.
I expect the story to end one of two ways. The villain wins, or the hero wins. Wondering what the author decides to do? Hope he doesn't drop the ball on it. Despite the cliche, i feel it was done incredibly well.

He already immediately got the revenge he sought from his accusers and killers, so I wonder what the rest of the plot would entail. Usually they try to build up to the final revenge or so but this manga gave it to us immediately.

you can already tell that it's just going to be another revenge demon plot. It doesn't look terrible so far but it certainly isn't very innovative. If it ends up surpassing my expectations then I will be pleasantly surprised but I doubt it will.
