I still want to believe that Lyon and Baek Han can find a happy ending together. I think it could still happen if she steps down and they run away together. What does the throne even give her anyways, besides revenge and power over those who made her suffer when she was young? So far the only way we've really seen her wield her power is to protect Baek Han, right? The one thing that still brings her happiness in life.
I could totally see her throwing away everything she and Dowun worked for, because what does that matter to her anymore anyway? I must be naive for hoping for that to happen. Now I'm even sadder. Oh author-nim.

Oml I died internally when he picked the lotus up for Lyon.
The lotus probably symbolises something much more significant, but I cri every time Dowun gets rejected in his face. Well, it's probably nothing compared to what he did to Lyon in the past but dammit I love these two so much.
Like everyone said, this scene really gives us a clear representation of their relationship up till this point. Suppose the lotus symbolises Lyon herself, him plucking it out is essentially showing us that he wouldn't bat an eye to cut her off from wherever her roots are to place her where he thinks she belongs, even if her lifeforce is shortened that way.
Even though he's genuinely just doing what he thinks is best for her and himself -- from an objective standpoint -- and yet it also shows us how much he doesn't understand her. My heart... :sob:

I agree with what @Ren_1778 said on how Dowun only does what he does because of what he "thinks is right" and does not try to understand Lyon as a person and just sees her as an object to fulfill his goals like how he treats everyone else including his own brother. It's kind of sad how we all kind of know Lyon would end up with Lyon and not Baek Han ;(
Plus I really hate Dowun's father with how he always sees Lyon as a hindrance to their clan's revival >;(( that's so mean

. For a more serious answer, I think his character is extremely interesting and well written. There are many things we think we could say about him, but he commits so many conflicting actions. The way he tells Lyon he doesn't care if she loves another person, but then yells, "At least when we're together, can't you only look at me?!" He's garbage, but wow, he's a great character. I ship Baek Han, but Dowun really makes the series.

Why did he come by himself ? The Douwan clan is full of personal,

@Ren_1778 Yep, everything he's done is in what he thinks is their best interests. The irony is that both Dowun and Han see themselves in Lyon and in a way are molding her into their own ideals. Only Dowun would pluck whatever it is that she wants to gift to her, and Han would sit by the lake at her side and enjoy it together.
