the Chinese character is actually 手 shou (hand) but is changed into 扌so It can become a character that is added onto different words such as 挑 tiao (pick/scoop). Other characters that are like this is 足 zhu (foot). This character is changed into the left part of 跑 pao (run). 口 kou (mouth) 吃 chi (eat). So I have no idea where fo came in. the characters's name of 扌is 体手盘 ti shou pan(literal meanings of the words [ body-hand-side]). Nothing too bad was just trying to clarify things in the wrong translation.
