Utterly heartbroken for the author. I can’t even imagine what they’re going through. Hope that they can find some comfort during such a traumatic time.

By an odd coincidence, I recently read and watched Maison Ikkoku, where Kyoko, one of the two main characters, is a recent widow. It’s a beautiful story, it has its flaws, but I love it for those flaws and it’s now one of my favourite anime and manga. In the span of a few weeks I’ve rewatched and reread it 5 times. Kyoko also names her the dog after her dead husband, sort of like in this extra.

I’m just a little stunned at the coincidence that a series I fell in love with recently reflects the life of another author whose work I’ve absolutely loved too.
