The Hero Suddenly Proposed to Me, but…

The Hero is so yandere, I'm almost tempted to tag this 'Horror' for the maid's sake...
This manga also borrows alot of elements from RPG and game manga tropes, but it is not a game. Still, that might interest some readers, so worth mentioning.

As a romance shoujo this manga is just not for me. It romanticizes and ignores abuse and even trying to read it to see if the character/mangaka acknowledges those failings is beyond frustrating. It's clear the mangaka will not be giving the maid any agency over her own story or decisions and just continues to let the hero force her into a marriage she doesn't want, dragging her and the story along. The one character that was even willing to speak up against the hero (as he's too powerful and literally everyone else is too scared to go against him) was written off as weak and a creep even...
I had to stop shortly after the permanent magnet-GPS engagement bracelet was forced onto her wrist, because this just had too many triggers for me.

Trying to ignore all that, there's ALOT of exposition without any real action, making the panels more wordy than needed. For all that it's characters and premises are attempting to subvert the hero's love story trope, it is really not all that different plot wise from other basic romances arcs. It brings up some really neat ideas though which initially attracted me to the story, but ultimately I think the direction the mangaka went to tell the story was a poor decision. Which is a real shame because I would have liked to read about a mob character Maid find her confidence, to see the Hero believably find his emotions and new purpose now that his Hero's Quest was done. But this story gives us none of that.
The story is appalling, but the art is OK and there are interesting ideas and characters even if they're not put to use correctly in the story. 3/10

Yeah 0 progress shoujoooooooooo. The maid is what you would call a beta (female). From maid to mother is probably better.

The manga is on hiatus but the light novel is currently being translated so there is hope. I added the link to Novelupdates. However, the manga is actually further along in the story than the translation.

@reika iirc april fools stoofs should go https://mangadex.org/manga/24441/april-fool-s-collection-2018 there instead of the manga page

Damn, it lol. @rosenkreuz

I actually have to re-upload at least one chapter since I saw a missing page. *sigh*

the first chapter made me super uncomfortable. I really hate the overbearing types but when they are super strong too this whole thing gives off a rapey arranged marriage vibe. ew

@MangaA-Z

No idea, the current English translation is behind the manga. Regarding the raws, I haven't read them.

ohh didn't know this had been manga adapted, nice.
for those interested in the novel, the LN translation is almost done with volume 2 which cover about all the 12 chapter of this manga, and then a bit more.

LN Trans : https://mjonlinearchives.wujigege.com/hero-suddenly-proposed/
Compiled Volume for easier reading (lots of ads, but that's life) : http://www.vn-meido.com/k1/index.php?topic=3327.0 (volume 2 will be there as soon as the last part is translated)

I feared the "semi hiatus" comment on the LN translator page but he released a chapter a few days ago, so all seems fine for now

@Krysstof are you the one translating the LN? Thanks for the info! There are only 3 volumes, right?

@mage_goo I thought you were joking but then I saw a similar comment somewhere else, lol. It seems the previous upload was missing pages. I re-uploaded. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Side characters are always the cutest, so what does it mean if the side character is now the main heroine. 🤔

Damn, this is funny. It's the same bag of shoujo ideas, in a world built of old JRPG cliches, but it's just so over the top about it that it comes off as absolute comedy.

And it feels like that's intentional.
