The Holy Grail of Eris - Vol. 3 Ch. 12 - Of Answers and New Beginnings

Oh, man, my reaction to the proposed engagement was a squeal so loud it my neighbour smacked our shared wall to tell me to shut up.

As well as... DUDE, ThiS man IS SO HANDSOME.

UM, BUT ALSO, what was that ENDING?

Thanks for the chapter.

(I hope I don't get kicked out of this apartment complex. XD)

Both the art and the story kept knocking it out of the ballpark. I can't wait to read more.

@Roiya
1. His wife died one year into the marriage.
2. An age difference of ten years or more was nothing unusual back then. As a man you had to have a stable income to be even considered for marriage. Women, especially those of higher social status were expected to marry very early (i.e. around the age of 16 to 20). My great-grandparent were 12 years apart from each other. He is probably in his late 20s (being a high ranking member of the military) and she is in her late teens, so everything is a-ok.

It's still very weird for him not to be count. European (seeing as this takes heavy inspiration from there) peerage titles of that rank are exclusively hereditary, so he already has the title and his uncle can do nothing about it. Even if his father was still alive he would still be called "Duke".

That noble priest totally can see Scarlet, and thank you for updating and translating this as always! Much appreciated

@Amarrez Page 26 the word "what", page 34 the word "terrible", page 41 the word "reason" are misspelled. I like how despite Scarlet being around Constance for quite some time, she thought that she would just abandon her but in reality no she wouldn't. Very sweet so maybe this will help their relationship grow & be great friends. Thanks for the translations.

If it is hereditary, as european aristocracy titles usually are, his uncle is the acting duke, because the heir is not of age given his brother and him are too young when their father died.

The count so far probably postpones his ceremony to be the official duke. That's a hard thing to have unless you are living abroad for indifinite amount of time. Disowning aristocracy title when you are still in the same country (and not on the run) is nearly impossible.

Nowdays peerage can sell their title and land if the land tax is too much, but it is frowned upon in the olden days and their aristrocatic pride won't allow it to happen.

Who the-- what a cliffhanger! I don't recognise the boy though, that's not Con's brother is it?

Also, love con and scarlet's relationship now. Less threatening, more comrades.

Not sure how I feel about the fake engagement trope though...

Thanks for the amazing upload as always!

YES! I hoped they somehow ended up in some kind of close relationship, otherwise I would have wanted to marry Randolf myself ;)

I like that the Engagement Trope was presented like a fun/proper deal lol
Don't mind, it's just that I've just passed by a ton of aristocratic/nobility/historica/etc mangas today and my brain is melting. I've had enough dokis and sparkles atm. my bad.

I can only hope it stays that way because I love the manga for its lack of romance and fun mystery times.
But I'm good either way assuming the ends are tied nicely.

For now, loving that 60 page count and the really nice Scarlet-Constance scene.
Thanks for the upload! Good work :D

Yeah i can't see this without shipping Scarlet and Constance.

The count is clearly gay anyway :p

HAMSWORTH IS MAH MAN! Fucking cackling every time I see that fucker, goddamn hilarious.

@JeDePi I have the theory that Ham is actually a good guy, that he is the one who contacted the royal police over slave trading.

that two page spread got me like *ambulance noises*

many thanks for the update!!! what an amazing chapter. i wonder who that boy is though?
