That's not a gun, but a spear, why isn't it being changed? Or does that thing morph into a gun later on?

To everyone mentioning why the spear is called a gun, its because gun means staff apparently. Not Chinese, but a quick Wikipedia run says the following: "It (qiang) is known as one of the four major weapons, along with the gun (staff), dao (sabre), and the jian (straight sword)".
