Ahh, sounds like the rest of her platoon's gonna die, which is too bad. Even if they weren't her friends, at least they seem to respect her and have a degree of camaraderie, plus they've been fighting together for some time presumably. So while she may swear allegiance to the king for acknowledging her, I don't think he was the first.
