Arousal, that is the trigger. Because the curse only afflicts the family as they mature, its when their "instincts" awaken is when the curse begins to take effect. So when he was getting "reaady" to do teh sex, him looking forward to it triggered the change. Which makes for a somewhat classic anime situation, The Duke needs to be a man to impregnate the MC, but he changes to a wolf every time he is aroused, therfore they will not be able to ever consumate their marriage, and the story will g oon with him changing back into a human, and ecchi situations changing him back into the wolf. The story will then be the quest of how to keep him human/curing him.
