I got banned from the school library in 3rd grade, librarians are just book cops
If you want to recommend someone an Imitation Crystal but are worried about outing yourself as a weirdo (well, if you're rec'ing Imitation Crystal it's probably too late), give them this one. It's the closest I can get to calling an Imitation Crystal work "cute", and even then it gives me big Allied Mastercomputer vibes.
It's unfortunate but this is not a very detailed adaptation of the original short story, it's more of a set of illustrations based on scenes described in it. It does have the basic narrative structure but you do miss a lot of the details and humor of the original. Still, it does a good job, it's just that the original story is quite good. If you know someone who tends to hide in reading things (sup lol), they might get a kick out of this like I did.
