@BigimeJones yep, in medieval time that was the age children beoming adults and for drinking wine, in my own country 16 would be the age to start with, but when I was in France as a student, my host parents told me that there, they start with watered wine for 14y to special opportunities to slowly educate them how to drink with reason, in medieval times drinking alcoholical beverages was quite common since the pure water from wells or rivers were often not not good and alcohol kills bacteria (yeah, they didn't know bacteria but they knew the normal water could go bad and alcoholic beverages would be fine

Also Girls during medieval time can be married off at age 12 and Boys at age 14. Prince RIchard of the Lionheart and Princess Alais were betrothed at age 9.
