I think the author agrees, that's probably why most of the recent chapters only have like, 3-4 pages with Era, and the rest are about either the fish or the other characters. Which is fine by me, honestly

Yeah, he's a really nice guy. Maybe a bit irritating at times, but his heart's in the right place.

It's particularly funny, because his character type (hostess club or maid cafe owner with a scar that makes it look like he's involved with the yakuza) is a stock villain, but he's actually just a great guy who deserves our the local blonde tsundere mermaid.
