The Monster Duchess and Contract Princess - Ch. 32

That... "Thing" is her sister. "Glory of the Sperado" is nothing but a pipe dream said by a weak-willed nobody.

I'm really scared that somehow the sperado family might actually win the trial.

Then the salvatores need to rescue her from the chains.

The Sperado family needs to be slowly and painfully vivisected for the good of mankind.

Just a few clarifications to the translations, in case it confuses some readers:
x6.jpg
"What if someone... to gain some advantage" => To be more accurate, it actually says that the Duchess's worry is that the Royal Family will be complacent to the Sperados' actions if they learn that Leslie's sacrifice is necessary for Sperado's power.

x12.jpg
"finding out about the law" => "finding a loophole in the law"
Basically, they created the law with the assumption that the parents will always act in the best interest of their children. Which is why it prompted their conversation about revising the law.

Someone needs to talk to her. Kids are smart. They understand a lot. Talking to her will ease her worries and prevent her from doing something spur of the moment. It isn't like the trial and everything around it are a big secret. Telling her not to worry and leave everything to the adults will often backfire.

That family is... horrible. Every one of them needs a long and painful lesson.

Shouldn't it the other way now? Since the tradition is the weaker child is sacrificed, then by that tradition Eli should be the one getting burned to make Leslie stronger.
Leslie was initially chosen because Eli showed some power while Leslie didn't show any.
But now it's very clear Leslie is the stronger of the two.

Her powers running out of control? Or is it just the resentment from all the grudges or the chains of magic binding all the second children who were raised as sacrifices?

@kazamakj Most likely normal fear -> nightmare.

What she dreamt of was not herself getting burned (although the fire was there and the other grudge kids were screaming around). It was a dream of the Duchess getting executed for protecting her.

@WhimsiCat

The tradition is that the second child is sacrificed, not the weaker child.
And even if that's not the case, it won't change the Royal Family's position if they do not want the Sperado power to be gone from their national power pool. Since regardless of who will be the sacrifice, Sperado will need to have Leslie back to carry out the sacrifice.

Also, I am only speaking from what I read in the raws, which bubble said: "Not to mention..." "The Royal Family may turn a blind eye to the Sperados because of their own interests."

I can't take this. This trial is getting dragged out too long. Probably have to come back around Ch. 40+

@July_Daydreamer Spoilers re. the royal family:

The current emperor and his own direct family (wife and son) are OK people who are friendly with the Salvatores and respect them; the problem is Medea's power and influence as Empress Dowager (which puts her above the emperor and hamstrings him somewhat) and her own devious plotting. Also, the mentioned prince Arendo is a nasty twit just like Eli; he's Medea's biological son (with the last emperor), not the current emperor's son (that boy's much better). In fact, Medea will be the main villain of the story's next half, while the Sperados become sub-villains.

@Eksentrysyti
If spoilers are right, the webtoon's still only covering 1/4ths of the complete webnovel.
