I felt the same way when I was a child I prayed for family to love me the same way she did. Except the food part. Then one day I was thankful that I left instead of waiting for the prayer to be answered because it turns out it was for the better. It's not about sitting up front (having a better position in the family) that she means. Just not having to constantly worry that the smallest thing will set an abusive parent off. You keep thinking it's your fault but as you get you realize it's theirs. They will find any excuse to blame you.
