@Rizkyarief and
Kaarme It's nothing that humane: it's called
dehumanization. You treat and present a human being as less than human, and suddenly all sorts of cruelties become easy to do (for most of the populous, anyway). Basically, the less human a person is considered by another, the easier such horrors become. It's a technique frequently used by groups systematically committing genocide but is also seen on a much smaller scale, such as domestic abuse and bullying.
If anyone noticed, while she is pretty damn bad, Rita isn't
completely horrible, just
completely stupid. She has entirely bought into the Spearados' words and wants to give a bit of "tough-love" to the child who "acts out" (horrible boarding school style, unfortunately). Only, the only sane and intelligent person in the entire mansion happens to be Leslie, who is also the only person there not to immediately resort to violence. As for Eli, she's an illogical moron, plain and simple; there's no logic to her words
what so ever/. As furious as Leslie is, her expression shows just how nonsensical Eli is being with a "what the Hell is she saying" expression, before her own temper kicks in. Additionally, I'm thinking that the prince isn't simple, given his body language (but its fiction-land, so it's very hard to tell).
