Wait...you just adopted her...why would you be sending her back to a place you know she is being mistreated? Hell, the Marquis could end up killing her just so you can't get her.

I'm not sure if her threats to the older sister hold water either. I wonder if the older sister is too old to sacrifice now. Plus the parents seem to have actually loved her for her entire life. As evil as they are, maybe they could do it, but they would just have to forget all that love they had for her and switch it over to the daughter they treated like less than a dog for 12 years. It would be harder to play off the older daughter's death as an accident too, especially since she seems to be engaged to the prince, and unlike the sacrificed children in the past, she has been a social butterfly whom everyone would know well. A lot harder to sweep that death under the carpet.

@HOOfan_1 They only accepted the proposal to adopt her, but they most likely need to go through a legal process as well, and it might be harder to achieve that if she stays there before that is done, since her family could claim she has been kidnapped or something.

@Nimroth That all could be true, but there is no way her blood family will go along with this. Heck in this case, maybe they should have left the scars to show how she was being neglected, but I guess they have that priest as a witness.

This seems like a situation where they should taker her to the authorities the very next day and indicate she was being abused and neglected and use that as the pretense to adopt her. I just don't see how they will get her blood parents to agree to letting them adopt her unless they use some other sort of manipulation against them.

They may not give a crap about her, but she is apparently very valuable to them. They even said they conceived her specifically to sacrifice her.

@Wolvenworks that's not an implausible conclusion but she's already one of the strongest soldiers and is the head of one of the strongest families. Not sure how much more she needs to 'scare' others.

@Asbolus It's probably because it's a recent injury and hasn't fully "healed" or scarred over. The scar on her face would've scarred over years ago while she was in a warzone so it's not all that likely the best healers would be there if they knew the strongest person in the kingdom/country was fighting, as they might think she should be able to crush the enemy without many casualties.
