I never understand why he doesn't just pretend to be dumb... Just wait for someone to figure out the corpse, and once it's investigated and confirmed to be that mighty monster, he'd have heard the news sooner or later. He doesn't have any intention to sell the jewel. He doesn't have any intention to gain fame from killing it. In fact, he doesn't want people to know. Getting the jewel inspected doesn't do anything. In fact, it devalues it. So why bother? I never understand this thinking pattern.
