I played Disgaea 1 and 2. I actually overleveled my Laharl so much that I made it impossible to get the 'good' ending, lol. He kept counter killing the last boss, since he was 200 or so levels above him.

@Nestrior Nah the armor he wore back when it was a game was the usual black one you see him wear HERE and HERE. Both from Ch 33 with his fight against Gerald. This is just another armor set he has.

Colored using these different shades of red coupled with a brilliant reflection, the armor looked like a furiously burning flame that had taken the form of a human."
He saves some soldiers and tells him to call him Red because of that armor
