Since the conversion rate of money is always in flux, its close enough and easier that 100 yen = 1 USD. Especially, given that, in theory the conversion rate for money listed in a manga story for any given manga chapter would be based on/around the rate of conversion at the time of the creation of the chapter. Much more simple to just say 100 yen = 1 dollar.
