But... Out of pure coincidence I happened to come across the raw and looked up that last kanji and it can also be translated as "present" (as in present time). The raw specifies it's read as "gen".

There is a good chance that Mulus isn't even human, just look at his pupils. Him being a very pretty man isn't so strange.
He is also tall and has broad shoulders, so unless the artist is just messing with us it doesn't make sense for him to be a woman.

@Kampfarsch Everyone here is familiar when it comes to "anime" style art. The issue is even though Mulus face is drawn in a feminine way, the rest of the body is drawn manly e.g. broad shoulders, height etc. So unless the artist is just being cheap to subvert expectations by revealing that Mulus is a woman and later drawing her body in a more feminine way, Mulus shall be known as a man for now.

@hunter23 what im trying to say is that theres barely anything to judge by so anybodies guess is as good as mine
its not uncommon for people to just straight up draw a girl and then say its a boy
some people just suck at drawing too so their art style has even less detail than usual and every character has the same face
