The Politics Megathread

Also one of my answers about word choice contributing to a certain tone was an entire paragraph saying the author is human and not everything was intentional. Because I thought the poem was worded rather neutral in word choice. Hold on we’re in politics right. Uhhh Biden seems like out standard all talk Democrat trump was actually making things worse while saying he was improving things to make money and make himself look good.

Yup this is finally something i can riled up by; English Teachers don't expect that a character can have blue curtains... Like as if the broke college girl chose a different curtain based on how she's feeling that day rather than just finding the cheapest clean cloth at the local charity store.

Or fugitives running from the Soviet Union by a stolen boat with a red flag. The colour doesn't necessarily mean that the fugitives are still passionate and vigorous about having a new life. It means that the boat they stole was from the Soviet Union

I dare some English Teacher force "A pickle for the knowing ones" on the students for their Final Project

You know what fuck it let’s just whinge about the education system. Reading used to be all I spent my time doing I literally got in trouble for reading before. Now a days I can’t stand the idea of reading non required material much less the last time I sat down and read a novel in the last couple years. I used to love reading but the sheer tedium of being forced to read and extensively analyze and then dissect stories I didn’t find fun, interesting, or resonates with me just completely ruined my old favorite hobby for me. I might find my love for reading if I decide to get into light novels but that will be a long time from now.

@Tamerlane Chapter 10 is fuckin' wild. Being a whiting seems fun. Toss me all the way to France, what do I care?

@immortalartisan I hated reading in college, but I really enjoyed reading amateur scifi online. r/hfy had some great stuff. One you might have liked, I think, featured a self-replicating mass of nanomachines that was controlled by the mind of the last dead human. Or something. I also really liked reading true survival stories. In the Land of White Death, The Tiger (by John Vailant), Skeletons on the Zahara.

this reminds me of a story i read during my WW2 class. i vaguely remember a story of a enemy boat that had been boarded by over-zealous(i think german?) civilians and the german military sunk the boat not realizing what had happened. or was it WW1? did anyone else get assigned the same book? does this sound familiar?

No, I enjoy Shakespeare now and I’m a freshman in college @wowfucktron

Hamlet is my favorite. Romeo and Juliet is just overrated generally

Imagine writing that much iambic pentameter though

@tamerlane
>teen drama is overrated
IT HURTS!
Its best to read Shakespeare in old English mainly because its so over the top.

>iambic pentameter
I've been out of school for almost 12 years now, speak in normie or use codemonkey language.
I'm pretty certain that has something to do with how each line of his poetry flows but part me thinks it has something to do with nuclear physics...

it is now dawning on me that I graduated college in 2009 and I somehow managed to find jobs in my field...

my only interaction with shakespeare in school was caesar. outside of that all i know about his plays are occasional quotes from memes like "What, You Egg? [He Stabs Him]" and the "to be or not to be?"

I have been reading discuss in politics reddit and watch some political comedy youtuber to kill time ever since something called "obamagate" exist. Is this alright for only looking to one-side information?

Discussing anything on reddit is terrible. People go their for entertainment, not discussion. Being lied to just feeds into the entertainment cycle.

Conservatives are saying you shouldn't laugh at someone's death. On this point I agree. Rush Limbaugh shouldn't have gotten away with celebrating the deaths of homosexuals with his "AIDS Update" segments. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1998-may-25-ca-53224-story.html

Theoretically--if managed perfectly--nuclear accidents might be avoided. Yet (from what I learned in school) a perfectly functioning plant still produces waste. It has to be buried somewhere; & that somewhere will be contaminated for 10,000 years.

SOCIALISM BAD! proclaim people who love the police, firefighters, military, driving on roads & various other benefits they may not be aware of. It reminds me of someone I met while seeking employment years ago (true story):

@M0NST3R but I like it here in Florida, despite the nonsense we’re famous for. I’m just pissed that SOME PEOPLE think forcing their shitty situation on others is a good thing

@EzWeeb nobody seems to want to be Libertarian either. I’m not sure if I even fit that, I still think I’m centrist or just a confused asshole, but those guys are (usually) more reasonable than everyone else

We have reactors now, though they aren't in use inside the US in a power creating capacity at the moment, that can use up to 95% of the Fissile material in Uranium, which moved that 10,000 down to about 200 years.

@CyanHide Is it true you can't buy a 40oz, but you can get a 128oz of Malt Liquor? Also if you are curious here's a link to a better political quiz than the compass test.
