I don't get it, she knows Dietrich lives through everything, since he has to be in the story later. So why is she acting like he's in real danger? It even sounds like she knows this event from the story, so she knows Dietrich is going to be fine. It's like the author wants to keep the suspense going even though he already spoiled the ending by having this be the prelude to a novel.

@Kynnath I mean I would assume that its because of her actions. While I see your point and its true that he technically should live, her actions and the butterfly effect could change the future. I feel like its just common place for stories in this genre to ignore the fact that all you need is small changes to avoid a "bad end" and keep having the MC stress out over it. In this case its the opposite though. I dont really mind it honestly since I am used to it.

@Kynnath Yeah, she knows this came from a novel. But reading a scene in a novel and actually experiencing that same scene in real life is different. It's probably scarier to see a bloody body, making it harder to think rationally. Also, she is trying to stop Dietrich from becoming a villain by protecting him from trauma.
