There was something at the beginning about Estrella seeing her father's face from mother's memories, and since her tribe was connected to memory, maybe she "inherited" her mother's memories, at least some, and the memory of the death being one of them. What the Chamberlain said hints that too

@XynoOoo It was just startled that Estrella tried to touch it. It seems the horse was trained to only allow it's "master" on it's back as mentioned by the Estrella's dad. So it doesn't like it when others are near it. I'm sure it'll calm down and eventually warm up to Estrella though, maybe even on the same day considering how great she is with animals. It's also possible that the horse might've gone through some cruel and harsh training; abused, which could also explain the reason for it's stubborness and why it doesn't want to trust anyone too easily.
