Feigning weakness here could have been a good strategy for the emperor. The empress dowager would have assumed she had Ling to reign him in whenever she wants, creating an exploitable opportunity where he throws Ling away. But his affection for her is a bit too genuine to use her that way, so I guess they're going to be watching each others backs now while their enemies try to attack their obvious weak spots.

Isn't the MC supposed to learn how to live and harvest more power in the harem according to the description ? Because to me it doesn't look like she has learn anything. I don't remember her resolving any problem by herself or gaining more power by herself, it's always the emperor who save her. And even about the spirit people there isn't any progress
