Probably more like a rpgverse world currency, which is actually not completely inaccurate to ancient history, gold, silver and precious jewel pieces were in the distant past used as a form of currency before national currencies became commonplace, theoretically speaking bitcoin is a somewhat attempt to return to that system using a digital currency.
