@dsid2814 This is what happens when you're isolated and unable to get out of your own thoughts. She's aware of her shortcomings, and that her decisions led to this; all the same, it's hard to get out of that pit once you've fallen in. I figure the story will eventually get to the point where she's gotten somewhat better since it's autobiographical, but that could take a while.

@dsid2814 I think she needs his "permission" because she's anxious. If you're anxious you tend to overthink things.
"If I go out what if this happens, or that happens, maybe I shouldn't go out at all", when you're in that kind of mindset it can help to get reassurance from someone else, her husband for example.
I think it's not that she believes he makes her need his permission, but that she needs to hear someone approve of what she wants to do.
