Would the "Assimilation Rate" something tied to the deviation with his original timeline ?
For instance, each time he ends up involved in something that didn't involve him in his past, he loses % of assimilation.

Only thing I can't explain is why he'd lose these % when dying then.

1 he should not have died at that place and should only die like in the future when his original master died.

2 his stats increasing on itself is a difference in the timeline.
