@Mythix: He doesn't know, but so far:
1. He can keep skills/part of the stats he gained in his lives.
2. Whenever he 'die', he goes back in time.

He doesn't know at what point in time he'll go back to, so he's trying to get as strong as he can in each lives so that if/when he goes back to the waifus, he will have better chance of protecting them this time.
